Selection Committee

An independent selection committee comprised of senior LGBTQA business executives and stakeholders will evaluate nominations for the awards.

  • John

    John Clifford

    Partner, McMillan LLP

    John Clifford is a partner of McMillan LLP, where he focuses his law practice on merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions. John has extensive experience advising Canadian and international clients on domestic and cross-border transactions, debt financings and complex re-organizations. He chairs a working group of Canadian M&A deal lawyers that studies and develops reports for the American Bar Association’s M&A Committee on leading trends in deal terms used in Canadian private company acquisitions.
    John also is a recognized expert on antitrust/competition matters. He has advised on the Competition Act implications of hundreds of merger transactions and regularly assists clients to defend investigations and litigation relating to matters such as alleged unlawful conspiracies, abuse of dominance and distribution practices.
    John is the chair or past chair of a number of leading business and legal associations and charitable organizations. In 2007, he founded exeQutive, a forum for Toronto-based LGBT leaders — men and women professionals, executives and accomplished entrepreneurs - and continues to lead the group, which now has more than 60 members. He also is Chair of the board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society's Ontario Division.

    Anne-Marie Vanier

    Chief Property and Casualty Actuary, RBC Insurance

    Anne-Marie Vanier is Chief P&C Actuary at RBC Insurance. In her role, she oversees the of Property &
    Casualty insurance portfolio profitability, balancing revenue growth, risk and capital management.

    Prior to joining RBC, she was Senior Vice President at Lombard Canada and at Guardian Insurance
    gaining broad experience in the industry including business strategy, M&A due diligence and company
    integrations.

    Anne-Marie holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business and a BSc in Actuarial Science from
    Laval University. She is also Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.

    With a history of involvement in diverse community and charitable organizations, Anne-Marie nurtures
    a special passion for children’s mental health issues in addition to diversity and inclusion in regard to
    the LGBTQ community. She is currently Vice Chair of Board of the George Hull Centre for Children and
    Families and co-Executive sponsor of the Pride ERG Group at RBC.

  • Christin Wilson-Final

    Christine Wilson

    Executive Director, Content Planning, CBC English Services

    Born in Brockville Ontario, Christine studied Journalism and Political Science to earn her degree from Carleton University in Ottawa.

    A passionate advocate of public broadcasting, Christine has enjoyed a long career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation working at head office in Ottawa, the English media centre in Toronto and in a small regional station in Fredericton. She has experienced the business from every angle - enjoying leadership roles in television and radio, production and administration, at the network and in the regions - from shop-floor daily radio production to the executive suite.

    Most recently the Executive Director of Network Programming for CBC Television, Christine was recently promoted to the new role of Executive Director, Content Planning with responsibilities across all CBC platforms. In this position Christine drives CBC's transition into a true content company - ensuring that CBC television, radio, online and mobile services plan, develop, produce, promote and program content in ways that maximize value to Canadians. Christine is accountable for the overall look and feel of all CBC's schedules and offers, and, in consultation with the EVP, is also responsible for decisions around program renewals, pickups and scheduling.
    Christine lives with her wife Beverly and dog Cobalt in Toronto while her two children attend University of Ottawa.

  • Gary Rodrigues

    Publishing Consultant

    Gary P. Rodrigues is a publishing industry consultant, advising both private sector and government, and
    a columnist for slaw.ca, Canada's online legal magazine. He has had extensive experience at the senior
    executive level at LexisNexis Canada, a division of Reed Elsevier, and at Carswell, a Thomson Reuters
    Company. Reid Elsevier and Thomson Reuters are the two global leaders in providing legal, tax and
    financial information to legal and business professionals.

    Gary has also played a leading role in the publishing industry at large, first as President of the Canadian
    Publishers Council, the trade association for multi-national publishers in Canada, and then as the Co-
    Chair of The Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency (Access Copyright), the collective mandated to licence
    the intellectual property rights of creators and publishers.

    Gary's professional formation was as a lawyer. He is a graduate in History and Law of the University of
    Western Ontario and a member of the Ontario Bar. His interest in human rights led to his involvement
    in monitoring elections in war-torn countries such as Namibia and Bosnia as part of the international
    efforts to establish democratic governments in these countries.
